"We have reliable information that the German Lutherans of this place will build a church next summer" said the New Richland North Star on January 31, 1889. The "old church", which was located on the northwest corner of Broadway Ave. N. and 3rd St. W. was dedicated on Thanksgiving Day, November 28, 1889. German language services were at 10:00 a.m. and English language services were at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Klein from Owatonna led services every third Sunday. Pr. H. Staehlin was the first resident pastor. The final service held in that building was on August 15, 1937.
On September 5, 1937 a procession was held from the old church to the current building on the corner of Ash Ave. N. and 2nd St. W. The new addition with Sunday school rooms, offices, and gathering area was built in 1977. The original slate roof lasted 86 years and was replaced in 2023.
