Founded respectively in 1890 and 1894, these two German Lutheran congregations have shared ministry and pastors since 1897! Our partnership has come a long way from the pastor taking horse and buggy in summer or sleigh in winter and the Otisco congregation paying "in hay and oats for the horses and food for pastor and family." (from Churches- New Richland Area, 2005)
Today, both congregations continue their partnership in sharing the Gospel in Southern Minnesota. Having been members of the Iowa Synod (1890-1930), the American Lutheran Church (1930-1988) and the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (1988-2019), we are now proud members of Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ (2019-present).
Histories of each congregation will be coming soon!
